Chicken Chettinad Curry recipe
This spicy curry laced with onions and coconut, the Chicken Chettinad gravy, is one of the finest and most authentic chicken curry recipe. You can make this curry with items available in any Indian Kitchen. I am sure this Chicken Chettinad recipe make for all important occasions.
INGREDIENTS
- 800 gms chicken (medium sized pieces)
- 2 onions and 2 tomatoes – chopped
- 1 tsp pepper corns
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 10 curry leaves
- 2 tsp lemon juice
- 2 tbsp oil
- 1 1/2 cups water
- 2 tbsp salt or as per taste
- coriander leaves – for garnishing
INGREDIENTS FOR PASTE
- 2 tbsp poppy seeds, 10 dry red chillies
- 1 tsp coriander seeds
- 1″ piece cinnamon
- 2 cloves
- 2 cardamoms
- 6 tbsp ginger
- 2 tsp garlic – chopped
METHODS
Microwave poppy seeds, red chillies, coriander seeds, cumin seeds, fennel seeds, cinnamon, cloves and cardmoms for 5 minutes.
Grind the roasted masala with coconut, ginger and garlic and 1/2 cup water. Keep aside.
Microwave pepper corns, onion, tomatoes and curry leaves in oil for 10 minutes. Add chicken and turmeric powder and cook covered for 8 minutes. Add ground masala and salt. Mix well. Add water. Microwave covered for 7 minutes. Serve hot.
